The safe environment for children and young people under the age of 18 at our school is paramount. We have strong policies and procedures that support children and young people under the age of 18 to feel safe and protected from any form of abuse and harm (eg. emotional, physical, sexual or neglect). We ensure our school is a child safe environment through the following practices:
- all teaching and school support staff are screened for child related issues and working with vulnerable people before recruitment and selection stage
- all teaching and school staff must have a clearance issued to ensure they can work with children and it must be maintained and be current at all times.
- all staff members have completed Child Safe Environment training and ensure they are up to date with that particular training
- only authorised staff have access to school student personal information data
- staff supervision and management is conducted on a regular basis
- children and young people are encouraged to raise issues of feeling unsafe with any staff member
- our teaching and learning content is only sent via a trusted source, whereby the child/young people cannot be exposed to other unsolicited mail or content
- we regularly review our policies and procedures in relation to child safety and wellbeing and improve them accordingly
Our child safe principles in our school online community are as follows:
